Glen Dhu 2 Wind Farm
Project Overview
Capstone Infrastructure Corporation (“Capstone”) is proposing to develop, build, and operate the Glen Dhu 2 Wind Farm (the “Project”), by participating in Nova Scotia's Green Choice Program Request for Proposals II (GCP RFP II). The Project would be an expansion to the existing Glen Dhu Wind Farm on the border of the County of Pictou and the County of Antigonish. The new Project is proposed to be located entirely within Pictou County south of the existing Wind Farm and would have up to 100 MW of power generation while increasing economic benefits to the area.
The proposed Glen Dhu 2 Wind Farm expansion project would build on the success of our existing Glen Dhu Wind Farm, which has been in operation since 2011 and features 27 turbines with an electricity generation capacity of nearly 60 MW. This facility has generated enough dependable and affordable emissions-free energy to power more than 18,000 Nova Scotia homes annually for 12 years. During this time, the facility has also contributed more than $5 million in tax revenue to the local municipalities.
The Project is being developed by Glen Dhu 2 Wind Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Capstone Infrastructure Corporation ('Capstone').

Project Benefits
The project is anticipated to produce up to 290,000 megawatt hours per year which is enough to supply electricity over the course of a year for about 29,000 average Nova Scotia homes annually. The project will add emission-free, affordable, renewable energy to the provincial energy supply mix, while providing the following economic benefits to the local community:

Employment opportunities for local contractors during construction for skilled labour as well as sourcing construction materials locally (gravel, concrete, etc).

Long term employment over 20+ years during operations for site managers, technicians, as well as secondary services for site maintenance.

Local businesses will receive an influx of business, particularly during the construction phase.

Pictou County will receive additional revenue through the payment of permitting fees and property taxes. The additional revenue will have indirect benefits to all community members.
